Day #4: Cheryl Dunye presents ‘The Watermelon Woman’ in Queer Porto 2

The Watermelon Woman, by Cheryl Dunye, celebrates 20 years this years since its premiere and it remains an unparalleled work in queer cinema, and not just because it was directed by a Black lesbian.
In this film Dunye talks about the lack of representation of black women on film, and about a set of largely unrecognized movies made by black people for black audiences, with exclusively black casts.
The Watermelon Woman screens today at 7pm, in Teatro Rivoli, and Cheryl Dunye will do the presentation.
