Day #8: Canadian filmmaker Yan England in Queer Lisboa to introduce 1:54

Now that Queer Lisboa 21 is reaching its final day, we highlight several films part of the Panorama section.
At 10pm in Sala Manoel de Oliveira we will screen the feature 1:54, with the presence in Lisbon of filmmaker Yan England, thanks to the support of the Canadian Embassy in Portugal. 1:54 stars Antoine-Olivier Pilon, the acclaimed lead actor of Xavier Dolan’s Mommy. The film tells the story of Tim, a shy, but brilliant and talented 16-year-old student and athlete who collapses under pleasure. Dealing with bullying issues, 1:54 has not only ran the festival circuit, but has also been an important pedagogical tool in schools, with the director himself lecturing these classes. Precisely in this context, Yan England will be in Porto to present the film to students on the morning of the 25th September at Cinema Trindade.
Also part of Panorama, we will screen at 9.30pm, in Sala 3, Foreign Body, directed by Raja Amari, the story of Samia, a young Tunisian who has fled her country, in search of freedom and independence in France, where she is hosted by Mrs. Bertaud, for whom she starts working.
