The daily life of four young women raising a nine-year-old son in a small town on the south coast of Brazil. Lesbian/bi, feminists, anarchists, non-monogamous, they build with their own hands a house in an occupied area in the middle of the forest, facing the imminent threat of eviction by the police. Beyond the depiction of the many shapes a family can have, Mães do Derick also highlights the growing need of many people to find alternative lifestyles.
The documentary is followed by an online conversation between the director and the protagonists of the documentary.
