Debate with Lokas Cruz, Rita Al Salaq and José Soeiro, moderated by Daniel Pinheiro

This years’ festival Queer Focus section also serves as a critical platform to offer visibility on resistance narratives that not only celebrate creative resilience and persistence, but also attempt to stimulate dialogue and reflection. An example is our partnership with platforms ‘Cinema Politica’ and ‘Queer Cinema for Palestine’ by showcasing their initiative Foggy: Palestine Solidarity, Cinema & The Archive. This program opens into a broader conversation with Lokas Cruz (Activist for Humans Before Borders), Rita Al Salaq (queer palestinian activist) and José Soeiro (Sociologist and Politician). Following their personal experiences as individuals involved in relevant actions towards a greater social conscience, we intend to access on thoughts about collective practices of resistance and strategies of planning and expression. By making use of tools such as Cinema, how can we act towards disarming the socio-political configurations that constantly threaten the construction of a fairer and more equal society.
