Barbara Hammer

With a career spanning over forty years, Barbara Hammer (Hollywood, 1939) is recognized as a pioneer of queer cinema. She is a graduate of the University of California in psychology, holds Master's degrees from San Francisco State University in English literature and film, and took postgraduate classes in the field of digital media. Working primarily in film and video, Hammer has created a groundbreaking body of experimental work that illuminates lesbian histories, lives and representations.
