Soundouss and Jaâfar, two queer youths from Casablanca, spend the summer in Cabo Negro in the north of Morocco, at the villa rented by Jaâfar’s American lover — who does not show up. The two friends decide to stay in the villa and do the best they can.

Born in Rabat in 1973, Abdellah Taïa has published several novels with Éditions du Seuil, which have been released and translated in Europe and the US: “The King’s Day”, “A Country for Dying”, and “Live in Your Light”. “Celui qui est digne d'être aimé” was published in Portugal. In 2014, he directed his first film, “Salvation Army”. Based on his eponymous novel, the film was selected for the Venice and Toronto festivals. His second feature, “Cabo Negro” (2024), premiered at Karlovy Vary, and his second short, “Cairo Streets” (2025), at Locarno.
