Queer Lisboa has announced a new selection of films that will make part of the programme of its 26 edition, happening in September 16-24 at Cinema São Jorge and Cinemateca Portuguesa.
In the Panorama section, out of competition, the festival will present the latest works by renowned directors such as Sébastien Lifshitz, Yann Gonzalez, Alain Guiraudie and Catherine Corsini. There is also space for the previously unpublished diaries of novelist Patricia Highsmith, a choral portrait of the black queer community in the United States, and a reinterpretation of the traditional barbershop from a queer perspective, among other films.
Also, Hard Nights are back at the festival with a selection of films that explicitly explore the limits of sexuality. This year's focus is on two unique figures: the legendary gay porn actor and director of the 70s Fred Halsted, and Mahx Capacity, founder of the AORTA films studio, whose films offer a porn and BDSM perspective where bodies are not governed by the standards dictated by the mainstream industry.
