Zinegoak, Bilbao's LGTBIQ+ Film and Performing Arts Festival, is celebrating its 22nd edition from June 23 to 30, 2025. Once again this year, the event is organizing a vast cultural programme related to sexual and gender diversity, including film screenings, performing arts, meetings, debates and parties. This year, the artistic director of Queer Lisboa and Queer Porto, João Ferreira, will return to the Basque event to take part in two of the festival's initiatives.
On the one hand, and as part of the ZG PRO Industry Professional Days, João will conduct a masterclass entitled “Film Archive: a Future from Memories”, alongside artist and curator Alejo Duclós, responsible for the "Memorias Sinvergüenzas" project. The encounter will discuss the importance of working with the film archive in order to generate the present of the community of sexual-generic dissidence, and will try to provide answers to questions such as: how to work with the archive of festivals?; what strategies to use in the face of the erasure of the queer community from official archives?; or how to reconnect with the past to articulate current networks of resistance? The masterclass will take place on June 27, at 10 a.m., at the Bastida Aretoa Room of Bilbao's Azkuna Zentroa.
João has also been invited as a juror of the ZG PRO LAB 2025 for projects in development. The jury, made up of professionals from the film industry and a person from the Rede de Festivales LGTBIQ+ Europa Sur, will evaluate and award various ZG PRO prizes after attending the pitching of these projects.
