Queer no Estendal is a partnership between Queer Lisboa and Cinema no Estendal, joining forces for the first time for an open air cinema screening as a “warm-up”, a week before the festival begins. On September 13th, 9pm at Pátio do Moca (Arroios), the festival presents four award-winning short films from the 2023 edition:
- "Les garçons dans l’eau" by Pawel Thomas Larue (Jury's Special Mention - "In My Shorts" Competition)
- "Troy" by Mike Donahue (Best Film Award - Short Film Competition)
- "Edge" by Edmund Krempiński & Jakub Dylewsk (Best Film Award - "In My Shorts" Competition)
- "Warsha" by Dania Bdeir (Audience Award - Short Film Competition)
Cinema no Estendal, organized by ColetivoPátio, is a short films' festival for the outdoors. The screen travels along clothes lines in different streets and squares of Lisbon, so as in other locations in Portugal, a way to celebrate neighborhood life and small towns, through open air screenings. This is a project that claims the use of public space as community meeting point, through culture and audiovisual art, as well as to recognize the value of cinema as a social changing medium.
