Purusha Androgyne Larkin (1934–1988) was a monk, pioneering gay filmmaker, and self-proclaimed cosmic-erotic mystic. His 1981 book, “The Divine Androgyne”, challenged repression with a spiritual vision rooted in eroticism and presented a radical path to cosmic-erotic consciousness through fisting. “Sanctuary” explores Larkin's attempt to form a utopian, pleasure-based spiritual community, and considers the complex legacies of his ideas in queer culture.

Sam Ashby

Sam Ashby (b. 1981) is a British artist-filmmaker based in London. Sam’s archival, research-led practice is concerned with uncovering marginal narratives and activating them through film. From 2010–2021, he edited, designed, and published "Little Joe", a journal for the discussion of film on sexuality and gender within a queer historical context, now collected in a new anthology published by SPBH Editions/MACK. His first film, "The Colour of His Hair" (2017), premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and won the Best Documentary prize at the London Short Film Festival 2018.
