Rita Barbosa (b. 1979, Porto, Portugal) is a filmmaker and visual artist. She holds a degree in Digital Arts from the Sound and Image programme at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) (2002). Her practice focuses on the moving image, working across film, video, theatre, and performance through collaborative processes involving creation, writing, and visual conception. She has worked as an advertisement filmmaker since 2006. Her work explores the relationships between text, actors, image, and sound, continuously searching for new forms of storytelling and expanded approaches to character psychology.
