Chemsex and drug use in the queer community

Before the screening of the feature film Drifter, which premiered at this year’s Berlinale and is part of the Queer Lisboa program, the festival holds a debate intending to analyze today’s reality of drug use habits in the queer community in Portugal. What has changed in these habits in the past few years? Which drugs worry the most the scientific community? What are the specificities in the consumption and associated practices inside the queer community?

To talk about these issues we invited psychologist and anthropologist Cristiana Vale Pires, a founding member of Kosmicare, where she collaborates as a psychologist and project manager, and a researcher at CEDH and associate professor at FEP-UCP; and Rui Guerreiro, who holds a master’s degree and is specialized in medical-surgical nursing, and whose main areas of interest are those of HIV infection and sexual health among men who have sex with men. The debate will be moderated by Maria José Campos, MD.
