"Solidão Povoada" at Museu do Aljube

The exhibition “Farewell, Country and Family” can be visited at Museu do Aljube - Resistência e Liberdade (Lisbon) from June 28 until January 29 of 2023. It addresses the dynamics and tensions between the repression and the resistances of sexual and gender diversity during the Estado Novo dictatorship and after the Carnation Revolution. This exhibition tries to understand how this tension conditioned daily life, perpetuated oppressive and discriminatory practices and discourses, leaving a mark in Portuguese society until the present day.

Óscar Alves' "Solidão Povoada", the first feature film of his short career and the only one in which he explored melodrama, is part of the parallel program of the exhibition, which includes lectures, theater and cinema, among other activities. It will be shown on the November 17 at 19h00, and admission is free (subject to the venue capacity).
